How much should a business website cost in London?

· 6 min read

Ask five agencies for a website quote in London and you will receive five very different numbers. The difference usually is not margin — it is scope, quality and what happens after launch.

What drives the price of a website

The main cost drivers are design (template versus custom), functionality (brochure site versus booking systems or e-commerce), content requirements, integrations and the level of SEO work included. A five-page brochure site and a custom booking platform are entirely different projects, even if both are 'a website'.

Typical ranges

As a general guide: a professional small-business website starts around £1,500, a custom-designed lead generation site around £3,000, e-commerce from £5,000 and custom platforms from £8,000 upwards. Anything dramatically cheaper usually means a template, little SEO and no ongoing support.

Think total cost, not launch cost

A website is not finished at launch. Hosting, security updates, content changes and improvement work all have a cost. Compare quotes on the total picture — build plus the first year of running it — rather than the launch price alone.
