How to prepare your business for a new website project
· 5 min read
Agencies can design and build, but the ingredients that make a website effective — your goals, your customers, your content — start with you. A little preparation dramatically improves the result.
Know what the website is for
'We need a new website' is a starting point, not a goal. More enquiries? Online bookings? Fewer support calls? Rank for specific searches? Pick the two or three outcomes that matter most — they should drive every design decision.
Gather your materials
Logo files, brand colours, photography, service descriptions, testimonials and access to your domain registrar. Content is the most common cause of project delays, so start collecting it early — your agency should help shape it, not write your business for you.
Agree how decisions get made
Decide who gives feedback, who signs off and how quickly. Projects stall when feedback arrives from five people in four directions. One empowered decision-maker keeps everything moving.
